Salads are not only the green leafy vegetables but also the combination of other vegetables. They are rich in Vitamins, fibers, zinc, Calcium and other important minerals. They are very good appetizers and can also be served with the meals. Salads are my favorite - very light, healthy, colorful and delicious food. In Indian cuisine, salads are generally served with the main course, or in-between the meals.

Some people find it pretty boring to eat salads. We can make them delicious by adding some healthy dressings.

As the doctors say one must eat minimum five fruits or vegetables everyday, so lets make some delicious salads!

sprouts with kachumar Moat sprouts with kachumar- Moat (also spelled as moath) are oval shape beans that can be easily found in Indian and Asian grocery stores. quinoa salad Quinoa Salad-Quinoa is very high in protein, vitamin B, minerals (zinc, iron, magnesium etc.), and amino acids and is also a good source of dietary fiber. I buy quinoa from local organic stores. I am not sure what quinoa is called in India. Since quinoa grows in dry and warm climates so it should be available in tropical climate of India.
Cucumber Chaat Cucumber Chaat-Cucumber Chaat is a road side chaat from Karnataka. I have learnt this recipe from my friend Ashwini who is from Mysore and often makes this delicious cucumber chaat. Ashwini says that this chaat goes by ‘soutekayi’ which means cucumber in Kannada.
