Sandesh is a very popular Indian dessert. This chenna based sweet is a Bengal specialty known all over India. I have never been to Bengal but grew up with seeing so many varieties of Bengali sweets in Kanpur like, Rosogulla, Rasmalai, Raj bhog, chena sandwich, variety of Sandesh , etc... This is a very simple and basic recipe of Sandesh. One can add different flavors and also give different shapes to Sandesh... ...
- Chenna 1 cup/150 gms
- Sugar ¼ cup
Method of preparation
Rub the chenna in between your palms or with fingers thoroughly. We need smooth chenna. This rubbing process takes about 5-7 minutes, depending on the quality of the chenna.
- Add sugar and knead well.
- In a non stick wok, cook chenna sugar mixture on low heat by constantaly stirring it. Cook until the chenna mixture leaves the sides on the pan. It takes about 7-8 minutes to cook it. Let it cool.
- Divide the chenna into 8 portions. Give a desired shape to Sandesh.
- I have garnished the Sandesh with powdered cardamom and saffron.
All time favorite Sandesh is ready to serve.
