Indian desserts are commonly known as Mishti or Mithai are the life line of any get together, parties, wedding occasions or ceremonies. In most parts of India sweets are first offered to God before serving it to others. There is a vast variety of Indian Desserts. While in eastern India chena based desserts are most popular in North India Khoya(thickened milk) based, Ladoos, Halvas, Kheer, Burfis etc are very popular.

    Apple crumble is a very popular Western dessert. In the United States, it is commonly known as Apple Crisp. I did not know about this dessert when I was living in India. I first had a crumble in France, at a French friend's place. They had made pear crumble which was just amazingly delicious. Since then, I have made it several times, and over the years I have modified the recipe to make it healthier. In this dessert, flavored apple slices are topped with crumbly flour, sugar and butter mix.

Chandrakalas are similar to Gujiya in taste but are different in shape: these are round.
